The school’s founder, Wilhelm von Humboldt, implemented a novel educational model at the university, which emphasized holistic, curiosity-driven learning, rather than exclusively vocational, market-driven learning.

Performing Arts department recruits new piano teacher

A graduate of the University of Indianapolis in 2006, and after being a teacher at North Side Middle School in Muncie for six years, Dathan Echols is a new teacher in the performing arts department.  Working as a piano teacher, a band director, and a music theory teacher, Echols is a teacher with a passion for the musical arts.

“I enjoy the community and I enjoy the people. I think it’s [Fishers] a great place to be,” Echols said.

He is most looking forward to making great music with his students and helping them become trained pianists while learning the basics of musical theory.

“What I find is most different from other schools is that the students work hard,” Echols said, “They do the best they can to make sure they understand the information. They have a hard standard here, The Fishers Way, and they make sure they get it, because that will help them in the long run.”

You can contact Echols at his email: [email protected]
