“They love our food,” Marangelli said.”

Serving 1,600 students daily for meal deals and 100-120 students for breakfast, cafeteria manager Anna Marangelli and 24 other staff members work every day to serve the student body. For Marangelli she wakes up at 3:30 a.m. and arrives at school at 5:30 a.m.  to start cooking. She does not leave until about 2:00 p.m. Marangelli has been working for 20 years in the food service.

“They love our food,” Marangelli said. “I love being with kids, I like to talk to the students and ask about their day and what kind of food they like. I really enjoy my job.”

Country beaked steak has become the most popular meal at school this year. They are now serving it in 3 lines.  Even the teachers eat the same food as the students. Sophomore Nydia Perez says she only likes the pizza.

“I think they should change the menu, because the food isn’t well… very delicious,” Perez said.

The school gets about two deliveries a week from Gordon’s Food Service (GFS).  All soup, wraps and sandwiches are freshly made by the workers in the cafeteria. The chicken noodle soup is even their own recipe.

“The Thanksgiving meal is my favorite to make,” said Mary Gnader the assistant manager. “Kids love it.”
