The school’s founder, Wilhelm von Humboldt, implemented a novel educational model at the university, which emphasized holistic, curiosity-driven learning, rather than exclusively vocational, market-driven learning.

#ASKUrban sparks up Twitter for students

#ASKUrban is the hashtag that has been blowing up TigerTV’s twitter feed in the past couple of months. This has been a new feature of the school announcements that are allowing students to ask principal Jason Urban questions they have been wanting to but do not get the chance.

The purpose is for students to get their voices heard about questions they have on the school, this then gives them a direct link to the administration. Students are not always given the opportunity to ask personal questions to people like Mr. Urban.

“I thought this would be a good idea because people are always saying how they wish they could just ask Mr. Urban questions, without all the complications of scheduling and emails. This allows them to use Twitter which is something students are on a lot and ask the questions they have been wanting to know,” junior Matthew Jones said.

All the process requires is tweeting the question one has with the hashtag #ASKUrban. TigerTV then sends the questions to Mr. Urban where he can answer them and is then featured on the daily school announcements.

This has been a first year activity for the announcements and decisions are still being made on if it will continue or not next year.
