In 2016, We the People placed within the top ten in the entire nation. We the People not only compete but devote some time to take care of the country’s veterans on the side. Photo taken on November 2.

Canceled this month by We the People, a class revolved around the Constitution, is a walkathon fundraising event that was supposed to raise money to be able to provide breakfast for veterans on Nov. 11.

They intended to raise money to host a breakfast for veterans on Veteran’s day and to host a family in need this holiday season.

The breakfast was going to be the most expensive part, but it was recently sponsored by the American Legion.

“We the People will be volunteering their time, and we won’t have to pay for the food or for a facility, so it just didn’t seem necessary to have the walkathon anymore,” history teacher and We the People sponsor Elizabeth Paternoster said.

Paternoster believes that other fundraising events may occur in the future to raise money for We the People.

“We will have to see,” Paternoster said. “When this team makes it to nationals, when they win a state championship, we will cross that bridge when we get there.”
