Senior Lily Sharp smiles and laughs while being crowned homecoming queen. Looking out and supporting Sharp from the stands was Junior Larkyn Muth, who looked back on the night and said, “The game was super fun, my choir got to sing the national anthem and one of my best friends won homecoming queen,” Muth said. “It was just an overall fun night!” The Homecoming football game was on Sept. 22.

What was originally a Student Choice Day session is now a club for all students interested in the activity.

Founded by resource teacher Scott Patterson and math teachers Bridget Langan-Puckett and Jacob Julian, the CrossFit club meets on Tuesdays and Fridays from 3 to 4:30 in the old weight room. If the members agree, the club will meet on Saturdays in the future.

“Mr Patterson said that during Student Choice day, everyone seemed to enjoy CrossFit, so he wanted to make it into something that everyone could enjoy and join,” junior Hannah Carson said.

One difference between a normal workout and a CrossFit workout is that CrossFit includes a variety of movements, such as running and gymnastics. This workout also includes weightlifting, cardio and aerobic exercises.

“We are seeing if people are interested in Saturdays or other mornings or maybe after 6 P.M.,” teacher Scott Patterson said. “The thing is right now we need the weight room, but we’re working on getting more dates.”

CrossFit tries to take a different approach to exercise. It incorporates several sports and exercises, with an emphasis on weight lifting and cardio work.

“The club is about students coming together, working together, and pushing each other,” junior Hannah Carson said.
