Rugby

With 45 guys already recruited, head rugby coach Curt Trout, gears up for the upcoming season. Trout plans to make this season remarkable. Club practices start the first week of February, and the first game will follow March 2.

Rugby is offered to any high school boys willing to participate and attend practices, no tryouts are required. Rugby is considered a club and is not part of the club sport.. Rugby is not included in the IHSAA, Indiana High School Athletic Association, so it was started by a few students who approached Trout in 2011.

“Many players knew that I had coached rugby in the past, so they came to me and asked if starting a team would be possible,” Trout said.

The varsity, JV, and freshman rugby teams are also coached by Ryan Wimmer, the instructional assistant. Trout and Wimmer will lead the boys to Pennsylvania this summer for a tournament, which they hope to win once again. The school will play teams including Brownsburg, Carmel, South Bend and many other Indiana teams. The boys plan to have another successful season this year and make their coaches proud.
