Sunday’s weather broke a 101 year record of snow in Indianapolis in March, according to the Indy Star. The 6.2 inches that fell led to cancellations in many districts, including Hamilton Southeastern. Although the snow had been predicted, according to WishTV, it was still a shock to many.
Twitter was abuzz with tweets from students telling Director of Transportation Jim White to “give into peer pressure” and cancel school. These students got their wish. However, not everyone in the district was so excited.
Junior Tanesha Burrell was a student who discussed the pragmatic perspective towards snow days – lost instruction time.
“I was really bummed, because I wanted to come to school to finish my paper for my Honors Anatomy class,” she said.
However, things may be looking up for Burrell – the lost day will be made up in June, and the temperature is predicted to be in the low 50s for the rest of the week.
