Cool weather starts winter guard

“I joined guard because I liked the thought of everything coming together after five months of working on a five-minute piece,” junior Jordan Dale said. “Also because it was something not very common and I wanted to try something new”.”
During the winter they compete against other schools to see who has the better team. They perform in the winter and hold their own events and compete at different schools and here at the school.
“I joined guard because I liked the thought of everything coming together after five months of working on a five-minute piece,” junior Jordan Dale said. “Also because it was something not very common and I wanted to try something new”.
According to junior Kaitie Gucinski, timing is a huge key when it comes to their routines because of all the movements they have. When they twirl the objects around, catching them so it does not drop takes practice, along with being in the right place at the right time so the routine does not get messed up.
The season for winter guard has not officially started yet. Tryouts are going to be held this wednesday from six to nine pm in the Sand Creek Elementary gym. For the girls or guys that make varsity, practices will be on mondays, tuesdays, and thursdays from six to nine. Kids that make junior varsity will practice on wednesdays and fridays from six to nine. A determined practice place is not official yet because space is a small issue. Roughly around five months is how long the season usually last. With a chance to put more more wins on their backs, winter guard prepares to show what they are made of once again this year.
