Senior Lily Sharp smiles and laughs while being crowned homecoming queen. Looking out and supporting Sharp from the stands was Junior Larkyn Muth, who looked back on the night and said, “The game was super fun, my choir got to sing the national anthem and one of my best friends won homecoming queen,” Muth said. “It was just an overall fun night!” The Homecoming football game was on Sept. 22.

“The purpose of Leaders for Fishers is to do different service projects that help the students at Fishers High School and the community in general,” sophomore Kim Tran said.

Growing from 44 members in its first year to over 190 members in its third year as a club, Leaders for Fishers is benefiting many throughout the community.

Much emphasis is placed on helping those less fortunate in Fishers and Indianapolis communities. They also work on sending students to the Leaders for Life camp in Estes Park, Colorado each summer.

“The purpose of Leaders for Fishers is to do different service projects that help the students at Fishers High School and the community in general,” sophomore Kim Tran said.

Brown_L4F1_102413The group volunteers with Circle City Relief every Sunday and works to disperse clothing and food to those in need in the Indianapolis community.

On a more local note, the Random Acts of Kindness (R.A.K.) committee works to serve those at the school. This group of students is in charge of promoting fellowship among students and staff, as well as a happier and more upbeat environment for everyone.

Recently Leaders for Fishers reached out to the teachers of FHS. On the first day of fall break, Oct. 24, students belonging to the organization came into school early to welcome teachers coming into work. Students were already let out of school for fall break. The students handed out goodie bags and notes to the teachers to show their appreciation for the teachers’ hard work.

Leaders for Fishers is open to any student interested in joining and meets meets every other Friday at 6:30 am in the LGI room. More information can be found from sponsors Kyle Goodwin and Dathan Echols.
