Mitch Lorkowski- The Girls Varsity soccer team squared off against Westfield on Wednesday, August 20. To kick off an early start, senior Maryna Clark scored a goal just 5 minutes into the game giving the Tigers an early 1-0 lead. For the rest of the first half, Fishers played hard-nosed defense and the game headed into halftime with the Tigers still leading 1-0.

Towards the middle of the second half, Maryna Clark crossed it to senior Kylie Hohlt who was able to score and put the Tigers up 2-0. For most of the game, the Tigers put pressure on Westfields defense, having 6 more shots than the Shamrocks in the second half. With the game coming to a close, sophomore Brady Riley sealed the deal with a reflection put into the back of the net with just 2:35 to go, giving the Tigers the win, 3-0.

After the game, Brady Riley had a few words describing how she felt the team played having it been only their second game of the season,

“I felt like we did pretty well, we prepared at a game speed which carried over into the actual game.”  The Lady Tigers are now 2-0 heading into their next game.

The Lady Tigers play Decatur Central at home at 11:30 this upcoming Saturday. Keep up with the team scores and dates here.
