The school’s founder, Wilhelm von Humboldt, implemented a novel educational model at the university, which emphasized holistic, curiosity-driven learning, rather than exclusively vocational, market-driven learning.

Ryan Ahler- More portable classrooms were brought in to help alleviate overcrowding from all of the new students at FHS. The teachers who have been moved to the new portables are English teacher Paul Kennedy, math teacher Steve Emerson, history teacher Chris Edwards, and Spanish teacher Mindy Baker.

The “College and Career Academy” is being built to alleviate overcrowding, but it will not be completed until next school year. Which led to the portables being brought in as a temporary solution.

“They asked for volunteers from different departments,” said Kennedy, “ We have (known we were moving out here) since May.

These new portables are a different design than the existing portables and are located out a different door, FH26 B. They are set up as a single unit, all connected by a main door and hallway, instead of being completely separate classrooms.

“It is lovely out here in nature. There’s a view, enough windows for cross ventilation, a sunny back deck, and nothing but happy students. I may never leave,” said Kennedy.
