The freshman baseball team played New Castle’s team at FHS on May 14. In the first game of the doubleheader, they lost 14-13. In the second game, they were defeated 1-0.

“We did not play well. We have Zionsville next on our schedule,” instructional assistant Brice Davis said.

In the first game, freshmen John Voe and Zach Weber threw a combined 1 hitter. Phillip Harding threw 3 innings without giving up any runs and struck out four players. So far, the freshman team has won 12 out of 18 games. Some schools they have played against this season are Westfield, HSE, Avon, North Central and more.

“We are going to have to protect the baseball on defense and execute on some situational hitting at the plate,” Davis said.

Their first game was on May 5 and their next game will be on Wed. May 18 at FHS.
