Pentatonix partners up with Kelly Clarkson in their new holiday album, which dropped in October.

John Legend, Pentatonix and Gwen Stefani are a few artists who have released new music this holiday season. After listening to a few of the new holiday albums, I put together a list of my favorite songs from each of the five albums.

1. “Grown-Up Christmas List” (feat. Kelly Clarkson) by Pentatonix

“Christmas is Here!” is a capella group Pentatonix’s third studio Christmas album since 2014. Kelly Clarkson joins Pentatonix in singing “Grown-Up Christmas List,” a song she sang in 2003 while on “American Idol.”

The version they do together preserves the charm of the song while adding new dynamics with Pentatonix’s unique vocals making up for lack of background music, as they do in all their songs.

2. “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” by Jessie J.

“This Christmas Day” is Jessie J’s first holiday album. She is known for her powerhouse vocals, and with her performance of several beloved Christmas songs, she delivers the song with the same talent.

Her version of “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” is catchy and stays true to the original version by Brenda Lee while still adding her own style.

3. “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” (feat. Esperanza Spalding) by John Legend.

John Legend released his first Christmas album this year cleverly titled “A Legendary Christmas.” His rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas” has landed itself at number three on my list due to its traditional and classic style.

He turned the song into a lovely duet with Esperanza Spalding. Their voices blend very well and add a nice touch to the classic Christmas carol.

4. “Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” By Ingrid Michaelson.

Ingrid Michaelson’s version of “Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” has an old-fashioned feel to it, similar to the style that Sinatra sang it. Her whole album, “Songs for the Season,” has a very warm feel.

The song is a very cozy and her voice is full of warmth, making it a perfect addition to my top five.

5. “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” by Gwen Stefani.

Gwen Stefani re-released her 2017 Christmas album, “You Make it Feel Like Christmas” with five new holiday hits. The title track was an original song from the 2017 album, and the duet with Blake Shelton is still one of the best original songs on her album.
