Over spring break students from the drama club as well as students from all three advanced choirs, Silver Streak, Silver Classic and Silver Sound, took a trip to New York City. The group left Fishers on Monday, April 1 at 4 p.m. driving over night, and returned Friday, April 5.
Once they arrived they took a tour of the Radio City Music Hall. The group also had the opportunity to watch two musicals, “Newsies” and “Matilda.”
“ I liked ‘Newsies’ better, it was more energetic and I like the songs better,” sophomore Katie Roberts “said, “Plus, I sometimes couldn’t follow the story of ‘Matilda’ and I felt like I was there when watching ‘Newsies’, but ‘Matilda’ did have very good effect (lighting and sound).”
The group stayed at a hotel in New Jersey and used a bus to travel back and forth between the hotel and the city. Students were also able to use the subway to get around faster within the city.
They visited many sites including the 9/11 memorial and Times Square. Even though the Statute of Liberty was closed, the group took a harbor tour. Students also had the opportunity to go shopping at Macy’s.
“ The most memorable part of the trip for me would probably be getting see Times Square for the first time and getting to actually see Broadway musicals, because I had always wanted to see one,” Roberts said.
