On September 6, 2015, sophomore MaKyla Amari Bond passed away due to complications from surgery at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis at the young age of 15.
She was an honors student and enjoyed things like reading, writing and dancing. She played the guitar and piano, and had a fondness for Batman comics.
She had been struggling with illness for a while, and missed several days at the beginning of school. However, that did not diminish her ability to make memories, memories that her family and friends will surely keep and cherish forever.
Nothing can bring MaKyla back, but we can fondly remember her time with us.
“She was always smiling. She was really kind. I sat next to her in English class. We became fast friends, and she was a really easy person to get along with,” sophomore Brianna Sharkey said.
