The new Avengers: Infinity War has already smashed box office records at over $250 million across 4,000 locations in the United States according to Variety. The action-packed film received an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling it “the best MCU (Marvel Comics Universe) movie of all time” while others highlighted its “unsatisfying ending.” Fans all over were happy to see that directors Anthony and Joe Russo involved costumes and references from the comics into the movie, such as Iron-man’s Bleeding Edge armor.
Firstly, I recognized the characters and their roles. With as many characters as they threw in here, they all had a big part to play. With this big event going on, they still presented each character perfectly, making sure each and everyone stayed true to their personality traits. With that in mind, a nice thing about this crossover series is that fans get to see the chemistry between characters who are unlike each other. For example, I loved how Doctor Strange and Iron Man kept up an “I’m better than you” act towards each other. I also enjoyed Thor’s reactions to the Guardians of the Galaxy, specifically Rocket’s personality.
The fight scenes were great. Complete with professional CGI graphics, they made the scenes even more worth the hype as I watched my favorite characters work together. However, I did not like that the fighting scenes developed a common pattern, always ending the same way.
In the end, I was happy in the beginning but quite disappointed when I left the theater because I learned that Marvel movies still milk you for your money just by leaving a cliffhanger and releasing the next movie in 2019.
