Hamilton Southeastern removes polling places from schools
Hamilton Southeastern school district has decided to no longer host polling places for the upcoming elections. This decision comes just before the Indiana primaries, which will take place May 7.
“An increased number of safety and logistical concerns have been raised by the community,” director of School and community relations Emily Abbots said.
This joins Fishers with Westfield, Carmel and Noblesville school districts, in removing all polling sites from school facilities.
This is after the last round of elections in November, other districts including Indianapolis Public and MSD Washington closed on election day. Hamilton Southeastern has only canceled classes during previous presidential elections, they opted to redirect voters to different entrances to avoid contact with students and faculty during the school day for the previous election.
To find where your local polling place is now located, you can go to www.indianavoters.com or call your local election board at 317-776-8476 to find out.
