Oktoberfest brings together Fishers community
Witten Park will be flowing with attendees as the annual Oktoberfest festival takes place on Sept. 20 and Sept. 21. While Fishers’ celebration of the event only lasts two days, the real Oktoberfest in Germany lasts 16 days. However, the event will attempt to stay true to many German traditions.
“Oktoberfest at Saxony features authentic German food and beverages, traditional live music by Polkamotion and German Outfit Contest,” Saxony marketing manager Candi McKinnies-Shreve said.
This event has been a major breakthrough for the Saxony residence area of Fishers, providing a time for locals to get to know the community better.
“What started out as an invitation-only marketing event to promote residential sales in Saxony has grown, with the help of our sponsors, volunteers and local businesses, into a 2-day family-fun, musical festival,” McKinnies-Shreve said. “The goal with all events held at Saxony is to host activities that bring the community together. Oktoberfest at Saxony is just another one of those great traditions.”
Both days will feature live music, but Saturday has a full slate of events for kids and adults alike.
Saturday will feature a free kids zone, arts and craft vendors, and authentic German food and beverages, along with a cornhole tournament benefiting the Fishers Fraternal Order of Police and their charities supporting fallen officers and families and children of fallen officers.
The event will run from 5 to 10 PM on Sept. 20 and 2 to 10:30 PM on Sept. 21. Admission to the event is free on both days.
