On May 4, FHS sophomore Ravynn Hill runs with the ball while preparing to pass it backwards to her teammate, FHS sophomore Ashlei Reeves. “Once you have the ball, you look ahead to see if any defensive players are close to you,” Reeves said. “If they are close, you go into contact and let them tackle you. If there is no one in your way, you’re going to want to run and then pass if someone comes up to you.”

On May 4, the Mudsock rugby team rushes to tackle a player on the Pike team. The tackle stopped forward progress of the ball, and the Pike team was forced to set up a ruck.

On May 4, HSE senior Lakota Dixon tackles a player from Pike. Players were only allowed to tackle from the waist down because it is illegal to tackle above the waist.

On May 4, FHS sophomore Ravynn Hill participates in a lineout. “My goal in a lineout is to catch the ball and don’t let the other team grab it,” Hill said. “Once I catch it, I’ll either pass it to my teammate or go down and run.”

The lineout occurred after the ball was carried out of bounds by the Mudsock rugby team. “If it’s our ball, we want to keep the ball by getting up first,” Reeves said. “If it’s their ball, we are basically trying to steal the ball so that our team can have it.”
