Sophomore Lauren Nix has wanted to run for class office ever since the start of her high school career. This year, she made the decision to run for vice president of the incoming junior class. Her excitement for the possible win is beginning to show.

“I’m really excited to get our class prepared for senior year,” Nix said.

Nix stresses the tasks that need to be done in order for a student to even consider running.

“It takes a lot of effort to make the posters and think about campaign strategies,” Nix said.

Among the slogans that can be found scattered about the halls are “Sam Ray all the way” and “Think Big, vote Figg.”

Voting begins on May 15 on Blackboard. There are 9 sophomore candidates, 10 junior candidates and 5 senior candidates to choose from. Each student provided a plan for their class in regards to the incoming year. These brief paragraphs discuss the accomplishments the students have made in past years and goals they have for the school in the future.

“I focused on what they [class officers] would bring to the school, things they have done and things they’ve been involved in,” said Nix.

The voting will continue throughout the week of May 15 and winners announced soon after.
