Boys’ basketball takes senior night win against Pendleton

February 12, 2019

Tigers take down Pendleton Heights High School 55-48 in a defensive battle. Both teams forced double digit turnovers as the Tigers committed 12, but were able to force the Arabians to commit 14 turnovers.

“The team played well together,” varsity senior Zach Webb said. “The whole game we were able to stick to our defenders and play hard while the other team was knocking down shots.”

Going into this game the Tigers averaged about 62 points per game to the Arabians 53 points per game. Although the Arabians could not bring home the win, they were led by senior Damieon Warrum putting up 19 points shooting 6/16 field goals.

“We need to work on playing as a unit when we are on offense and defense,” varsity senior Luke Hernandez said. “This will make winning a lot easier.”

For the Arabians it was a slow start in the first quarter scoring only four points. On the other side the Tigers came out with a punch scoring 13 points. In the second quarter it was a different scene as the Arabians were able to out score the Tigers by one point, but still trailed going into the second half 29-21.

“I think we can work on playing hard the whole game,” Webb said. “That will allow us to eliminate teams runs to get back into the game.”

Coming out at half, it looked like a new game as the Arabians came out on top in the third quarter scoring 17 to the Tigers 12. WIth help from Warrum and company the away team were able to outscore the Tigers in the second half by one point. Even being outscored in the second half, that could not stop four Tiger players posting double digit points and taking home the senior night win.

The Tigers have one last home game Feb. 15 against conference rival 15-5 Zionsville High School. Then they will wrap up their schedule with an away match-up against coach Moore’s previous team 8-12 Kokomo High School.
