Fresh cut grass, newly painted base lines and the crack of the bat as the Tigers take batting practice before game two of a series against Zionsville.

Starting pitcher for the Tigers was Junior Anthony Castallani. This was Castallani’s first year starting as a varsity pitcher, so tensions were high for the young player. Things were slow at first in the first 2 innings, but when the third rolled around things started to get interesting. The Zionsville Eagles put two runs up on the board after singles were hit into the gaps of the outfield.

Down 2-0, the Tigers looked to bounce back in the fourth inning and it’s exactly what they did. Slowly but surely putting runs up on the board the game was tied 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Eagles put up two runs in the fifth to make the game 4-2 but the Tigers were not going down without a fight. In the bottom of the fifth, runners got on first and second and were in prime scoring position.

A well knocked bunt by freshman Joey Brencewski moved the runners over and JJ Woolwine scored a run to put the game at a nail biting 4-3. The next inning went on scoreless. Heading into the seventh, tensions in the crowd were high as the Tigers went up to bat in the last attempt they had to turn this game around and come back.

The Tigers put some runners on with two outs in scoring position. The Eagles pitcher delivered a passed ball to the plate that slipped past the catcher. As the Tigers sent a runner home to score the catcher was too fast and applied the tag for the final out of the game. The Tigers lost 4-3.
