Senior Lily Sharp smiles and laughs while being crowned homecoming queen. Looking out and supporting Sharp from the stands was Junior Larkyn Muth, who looked back on the night and said, “The game was super fun, my choir got to sing the national anthem and one of my best friends won homecoming queen,” Muth said. “It was just an overall fun night!” The Homecoming football game was on Sept. 22.

Members of the student section watch the football game. “As a spirit leader, my role is to keep the energy hype and positive no matter what the score is,” Baranovsky said. “We all want the same thing: to beat HSE. Halloween brings with it a change in the atmosphere, especially at Conner Prairie. The Headless Horseman event has been held there for the purpose of getting people in the Halloween spirit, but in order for such a large event to function, the Prairie relies on volunteers to help run it.

These volunteering opportunities are advertised by the NHS and the Key Club in order for students to get the volunteer hours necessary for these organizations. However there are other reasons to volunteer.

“I like helping others and just meeting new people,” junior Kacie Tyner said.

When volunteering at the Headless Horseman, there are many different jobs that need to be done. Some of these include s’more makers, cashiers, hayride loading/unloading and working with arts and crafts.

“I help people know what they are supposed to do at the craft area and help them make crafts,” Tyner said.

All of the shifts are scheduled from 5pm until 10pm, while the hayride jobs take longer.
