Emma Russell- Every year new staff members are hired to teach here, including English teacher Ross Springman. This will be Springman’s fourth year teaching, after working at Whiteland community high school for the past three years. Springman attended Taylor University for a bachelors degree in English and science.
“I knew I wanted to work with high school students, I didn’t know what kind of mode that was in, whether it would be counseling or whether it would be teaching,” Springman said.
Springman originally wanted to become a minister, but after interning for awhile decided against it.
“I thought it was fun, but it wasn’t really my thing so I switched and decided I wanted to coach as well.”
Springman played football in elementary, middle school, high school and college until he got an injury. After playing his whole life he decided to finally start coaching. This year Springman is the Assistant coach for the boys football team, and is looking forward to a new season with the new team.
“Coaching was that next step for me again working with high school students I wanted to be able to work with them outside of the classroom as well and coaching was always a way to stay a part of the game, so that is what I wanted to do and be apart of.”
