The school’s founder, Wilhelm von Humboldt, implemented a novel educational model at the university, which emphasized holistic, curiosity-driven learning, rather than exclusively vocational, market-driven learning.

One man started school as the “invisible kid”. In the fourth grade, he decided to become a skater. Being poor he did everything he could for months just to earn enough money to buy a skateboard.

“For the past five years, I’ve had one focus: to travel around the country and inspire young people to leave a legacy behind,” Smith said on his video about his show, The Harbor.

When he moved to a small town in Nebraska, he went to high school and became the kid from the city. He soon joined the athletic teams because that’s what the high school was all about, his grades were all Cs, he drank and partied with his friends, and he thought he finally fit in. His name is Mike Smith.

Smith has grown since then. He changed his character senior year and wanted to make a change. He started helping others; not to benefit himself.

Back to today, he has made a video series called The Harbor. In these videos, people talk about their life and legacy.

“Every great family, every great name, every great legacy had to start somewhere…I realised that I had to start being comfortable with the uncomfortable. I had to share my story so other people could come forward and share their story, said Davey Muise on The Harbor.

Smith’s overall goal is for people, especially teens, is to be happy with their character and make a legacy using their actions and not words. He wants people to change the way school cultures are. Teachers are giving lessons based off of his series led by Jostens.

“There is so much in this world that can just bury us up to our necks in problems. It’s up to us to find our shovel to dig our way out. And once we’re out of that hole. It’s our responsibility to go find other people that are buried up to their necks and dig them out of their holes,” Muise stated.

This skateboarder has done so much to help everyone. With the determination he used to save up money for his first skateboard, has been the same with his charities- THE BAY and Skate for Change. Davey Muise’s video is available to watch on Youtube -> Davey Muise’s legacy.
