The school’s founder, Wilhelm von Humboldt, implemented a novel educational model at the university, which emphasized holistic, curiosity-driven learning, rather than exclusively vocational, market-driven learning.

Kayla Gross is one of newest additions to staff

Emma Russell- The newest addition to the foreign language department is Spanish teacher Kayla Gross. She formerly taught in Spain, but now teaches here in portable eight.

This will be the first year Gross teaches in the United States, after spending the last three years in Sevilla, Spain, where she taught English to Spanish students. After living away for so long she decided to work somewhere closer to home. So far, Gross said she has adapted very well and seems to be enjoying her time teaching.

“I really like it here so far,” Gross said. “The Spanish Team and the professors here are really great and helpful here.”

Gross is related to the guidance counselor, Lindsay Gross, and that is how Gross found out about the school in the first place. Although they do not work together directly, they still help each other out.

“I became really passionate about Spanish and I really just wanted to share it with everyone else,” Gross said.
