The school’s founder, Wilhelm von Humboldt, implemented a novel educational model at the university, which emphasized holistic, curiosity-driven learning, rather than exclusively vocational, market-driven learning.

RPG arrives for another year

RPG (Role Playing Games) Club is a club that anyone can join, freshmen to seniors and girls or guys. It is all year round with a fee of seven dollars, for the entire year including snacks and game materials.

On Wednesdays the club meets after school until 4:30 p.m. in Café B. People come and go or play as they please.

The games the students play are character based. They bring in tabletop based or card games. Dungeons and Dragons is the most popular at the moment. There are also Magic Gathering, Munchkins and several other games RPG members play.

According to Jennifer Gabbard, the sponsor of the RPG Club, there are plenty of freshmen who joined this year. There’s a good mix of age group and an equal amount of guys and girls out of 30 to 40 students.

Anyone can attend the occasional tournaments RPG holds throughout the year. They are held for fun but it also helps fundraising to provide more games / game materials.

“It’s a hobby based club where a lot of students play these games but they don’t know that there are a lot of people who play. It’s a place for them to meet and to play games together and hang out,” Gabbard said.
