The school’s founder, Wilhelm von Humboldt, implemented a novel educational model at the university, which emphasized holistic, curiosity-driven learning, rather than exclusively vocational, market-driven learning.

Luka Skudrzik – Underclassmen will finish scheduling courses for next year while guidance prepares for several types of tests.

Currently, guidance is in the midst of wrapping up scheduling for next year. Students need to make sure that this gets done within the next week. All changes must be made by the end of the year.

There is a focus on getting students interested in the new courses that are available such as oceanography, forensic science and construction.

“We are hoping to offer a construction opportunity for students interested in going into skilled trades such as HVAC, electrical work, plumbing, etc. I’d really love for some students to really get into that because it is a great career field,” guidance counselor Linda Brown said.

Testing will include accuplacer tests, AP exams and ECA’s. Accuplacer testing is for students who did not score above a 46 on the PSAT. AP exam registration has already begun, and underclassman can expect more information on ECA’s soon.

“Underclassmen, make sure you put careful thought into the courses you are requesting. A lot of students don’t take the time to think through all of the options,” Brown said.
