The school’s founder, Wilhelm von Humboldt, implemented a novel educational model at the university, which emphasized holistic, curiosity-driven learning, rather than exclusively vocational, market-driven learning.

Guidance Blog: March brings about many deadlines for seniors

Luka Skudrzik – March is full of deadlines regarding the FAFSA, exams and scholarships, so students will be working hand-in-hand with guidance this month.

Guidance warns students that the FAFSA deadline is fast approaching; it needs to be submitted and received by Mar. 10, and they will not accept it on any later date, period.

If a student’s parents have not finished their taxes, students can use estimates and update the FAFSA later.

“Every senior should [fill out the FAFSA] no matter what because often, if colleges are going to offer you any dollars from the university, they want you to fill out the financial aid form first to make sure you are getting a maximum amount from that, so that they can spread money out if possible,” guidance counselor Linda Brown said.

Guidance is also working on testing requirements such as the PSAT accuplacer test. These are tests given to students who did not get above a 46 on any category of their PSAT. They are also preparing for ECA’s, which are in May, and AP exams. Sign ups for AP exams has already begun.

“For upperclassmen, make sure you fill out the financial aid form and finish strong with your grades. Make sure you don’t get senioritis,” Brown said.
