The school’s founder, Wilhelm von Humboldt, implemented a novel educational model at the university, which emphasized holistic, curiosity-driven learning, rather than exclusively vocational, market-driven learning.

New to FHS, Puzzle Club focuses on building teamwork and collaboration skills. Life Skills teacher Cassi Smith started the club early in September as a way of bringing students together.

The club meets once a week from 3 to 4 p.m. in C105, each bringing a small snack or something to share as they work on completing puzzles. So far, they have finished one 500-piece jigsaw puzzle, but hope to gain more members so they can aim for bigger challenges in the future.

“To join, you just walk through the door, sit down and put a puzzle piece in,” senior Gabby Goad said.

Next month Puzzle Club will be hosting a puzzle tournament for Riley Dance Marathon, in which they will have 100 piece puzzles that teams will compete to complete.

“We’ll have a timer going and we’ll see which team gets the best time compared to Puzzle Club’s time,” Goad said.
