The school’s founder, Wilhelm von Humboldt, implemented a novel educational model at the university, which emphasized holistic, curiosity-driven learning, rather than exclusively vocational, market-driven learning.

Every other Monday in B210, the Save the Earth club meets. This club is sponsored by English teacher Christina Ripley.

The Save the Earth club, originally called Environmental Club, was suggested by sophomore Ashdan Trexler. According to Christina Ripley, he thought because of the school’s large amount of students, that many people would be interested in this club like him.

“One of my sophomore students came up to me and he was interested in starting the Save the Earth club. He needed a sponsor and I had free time on Monday so I became the sponsor,” English teacher Christina Ripley said.

The club currently is deciding on what to do at future meetings but one of the decisions to be made is choosing what the club will be raising money for.

“We’re trying to see what activities people want to do and what places they want to raise money for,” Ripley said.

Save the Earth club is always open to new members who want to join. If the club gets enough people who want to continue the club, it will start up again next year.

“I think it’s a good place for people who want to do a little community service and get involved,” Ripley said.
