The school’s founder, Wilhelm von Humboldt, implemented a novel educational model at the university, which emphasized holistic, curiosity-driven learning, rather than exclusively vocational, market-driven learning.

Annual Awards

FHS students discuss yearly global awards
Annual+Awards
Made on canva by Elliot Haan

Every year there are end-of-year awards that often put society in a fuss. These awards include things such as game of the year, album of the year, movie of the year etc.

“I hate to say it but Taylor Swift’s 1989 will probably win album of the year,” sophomore Henry Huebschman said. “It’s hard to say but I think that Kill Bill might win [song of the year], but any Taylor Swift song could easily take that spot.”

There were a lot of high-charting songs by Taylor Swift this year and according to statistics from Spotify Wrapped, she is the top streamed artist this year followed by Bad Bunny and The Weeknd.

Some Taylor Swift or Morgan Wallen Song [will win song of the year] as “Last night” was really popular,” junior Brycen Curry said.

This year had a lot of popular releases in the movie industry with movies such as Across the Spider-Verse, Barbie and the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie.

“The FNAF movie or Spiderman Across the Spider-Verse,” Huebschman said. “They both blew up on release and are still very popular so far.”

With the number of voting systems for yearly awards that there are, students like Huebschman and Curry think they are likely rigged.

“They are all rigged because they could all be bad but people already played, saw or watched them so they already got the credit,” freshman Leyton Vaughn said.

The Game Awards were last Thursday and gamers online are irritated about certain results. Many believe that Yuri Lowenthal who voices Spider-Man in the most recent PlayStation exclusive should have won for best performance.

“Spider-man 2 will likely win,” Huebschman said before the awards. “It’s been one of the biggest gaming releases of this year and has had extremely high ratings.”
