New science department teacher Jonathon Statzer teaches biology and proudly considers Fishers his home.Born and raised in Fishers, Statzer can remember the vast farmland of Fishers long before the population boom.

“I remember when the only stoplight in Fishers was at the intersection between Allisonville Road and 116th Street,” Statzer said.”

Statzer graduated from HSE before the addition of FHS to the HSE school system. He recently graduated in December from IUPUI with a bachelors degree in bio education. He also began teaching in HSE school system as well.

He initially taught a life science class last semester for seventh graders, while their permanent teacher took a maternity leave. This year, Statzer holds his first job as a full-time biology teacher.

Statzer plans to live and raise his children in Fishers with nearby family and friends.
