Recently, the Fishers High School girls’ basketball season ended, but for five seniors it was their final game of their high school career. What is next for these seniors?
“I am going to major in secondary education and history at IU Kokomo, as well as play basketball,” senior Brooklyn Hudnut explained. “I will keep playing because I like to compete.”
While some seniors will keep continuing playing, there are others choosing to give up the sport during college, such as senior Akya Koenig.
“I will most likely be attending Indiana State University and majoring in aviation management/professional flight and finishing flight school,” Koenig explained. “I will not be playing basketball because I have other things that I want to prioritize and never really wanted to go to college for basketball.”
Before the season started, senior Natalie Thomas was already committed to a team. Thomas committed to the Pilots at Bethel University in Indiana.
“I will be attending Bethel University to play basketball and study nursing,” Thomas elaborated. “I love my pilot family, and I can’t wait for this next chapter of my life! Being committed before this season was great as it let me just enjoy my senior year without being concerned about outside factors. The recruiting process is very hard but very rewarding.”
Thomas has some advice for future Fishers High School basketball players.
“My advice to future high school basketball players is every role matters,” she continued. “Whether you’re the leading scorer or the loudest teammate on the bench, when you give your all, you make this game and your team, something special!”
