Mitch Lorkowski – Leaders for Fishers is a growing club. Members are meeting every other Friday before school in the LGI for a group discussion about future plans and brainstorming ideas on what should be done to improve the school and community.  Whether it be cleaning up the stands after a football game, coming in on fall break to serve the custodians with food, or even making quilts for homeless people, it is all a part of Leaders for Fishers and their goals they are trying to accomplish this year.

Leaders for Fishers exceeds almost 150 students. The amount of students that take part in these gestures makes Leaders for Fishers a popular club.

“I love the club. It creates such a friendly atmosphere of students that want to help in whatever way they can. There are so many ideas we are trying to make happen; it’s truly amazing just thinking about what this club and group of people can accomplish,” junior Dasuni Sirisooriya said.

Thus far they have not done any huge projects, as they are still figuring out how they can make these acts of kindness happen. The deeds done by this club show what Fishers as a school represents.

“It’s taught me so many different things. It’s one of those things that you just grasp as you help the community. Leadership is just one of the many traits that I’ve picked up on, along with selflessness which has impacted me as a person the most,” Sirisooriya said.

Leaders for Fishers is starting to take action and will start doing big projects in the upcoming weeks. The next meeting is on Friday Oct. 10 at 7:00 a.m. in the LGI.
